Synopsis

Elisa, fiancee of a wealthy industrialist who is twenty years older than her is eager to shed her working-class background in favor of the opulence of her fiancé's elite lifestyle.

To her dismay, she soon realizes her hopes to slip into magazine-ready images of domestic splendor must also include her future stepchildren, Diego and Andrea.

As she embraces her new life, her stepchildren rebel against their upper-class upbringing. They live outside the world, far from the reality of their country, in a world where the landmarks are truncated.

In the luxurious family villa bordered by the ocean, the two teenagers find themselves mostly disconnected from other people.

The new stepmother will have to learn the rules that her new status implies.

The soundtrack of Gods perfectly captures the juxtaposition of opulence and emptiness in Elisa's new life. The haunting melodies reflect the isolation and disconnect felt by the characters living in their luxurious bubble.

Michelle Wilson

The music in Gods skillfully conveys the tension and rebellion simmering beneath the surface of the wealthy family. The use of discordant notes and melancholic tones adds depth to the story of Elisa, Diego, and Andrea as they navigate their conflicting emotions.

Nancy Turner

The musical score of Gods serves as a powerful storytelling tool, mirroring the internal struggles and external facades of the characters. The emotive compositions help to convey the challenges and desires of Elisa, Diego, and Andrea as they grapple with their identities and place in the world.

The score of Gods often feels out of place, disrupting the flow of the narrative rather than enhancing it. The jarring transitions between scenes are exacerbated by the ill-fitting music choices, leaving the audience feeling disconnected from the story.

Paul Hall
