Synopsis

Gunpowder is a historical drama miniseries that tells the story of the Gunpowder Plot, a failed assassination attempt against King James I of England in 1605. The plot was led by a group of English Catholics who wanted to restore Catholicism in England and end the persecution of their faith.

The series follows the protagonist, Robert Catesby, a devout Catholic who is determined to take action against the oppressive Protestant government. Catesby recruits a group of fellow Catholics, including Guy Fawkes, to help him carry out the plot.

As the group plans their attack, they face numerous challenges and setbacks. Their plan is eventually discovered, and they are captured before they can carry out the assassination.

Gunpowder explores themes of religious persecution, political intrigue, and the lengths people will go to in order to fight for their beliefs. The series is a gripping and intense portrayal of one of the most infamous events in English history.
