Synopsis

Hacksaw Ridge is a 2016 war film directed by Mel Gibson. The movie tells the true story of Desmond Doss, a conscientious objector who served as a medic during World War II. Doss refuses to carry a weapon due to his beliefs as a Seventh-day Adventist, but still wants to serve his country.

Despite facing ridicule and discrimination from his fellow soldiers, Doss proves himself to be a hero on the battlefield. During the Battle of Okinawa, he single-handedly saves 75 men by lowering them down a cliff to safety, all while under heavy enemy fire.

Hacksaw Ridge received critical acclaim for its portrayal of Doss's bravery and conviction. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. Andrew Garfield, who played Doss, was also nominated for Best Actor.

The movie serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who serve in the military, as well as the importance of staying true to one's beliefs in the face of adversity.
