Once upon a time, there were two siblings named Hansel and Gretel. They lived in a small house with their father and stepmother. The family was poor and struggling to find enough food to eat.
One day, the stepmother came up with a plan to abandon Hansel and Gretel in the forest, as she believed they were eating too much. The children overheard her and decided to outsmart her by leaving a trail of breadcrumbs behind them as they walked into the woods.
However, the breadcrumbs were eaten by birds and the siblings found themselves lost in the forest. They stumbled upon a house made of gingerbread and candy, which belonged to a wicked witch.
The witch lured them inside with promises of food and shelter, but she had evil intentions. She locked Hansel in a cage and forced Gretel to do chores for her. The witch planned to fatten up Hansel and eat him.
But Gretel was clever and managed to trick the witch into the oven instead. She rescued her brother and they escaped from the witch's house. They found their way back home, where their father was overjoyed to see them.
From that day on, they lived happily ever after, never having to worry about hunger or evil stepmothers again.
