Synopsis

The further adventures based on characters created by James Fennimore Cooper. Hawkeye the woodsman meets Elizabeth Shields, a woman trying to free her husband from the French. She and her husband followed his brother, Captain Taylor Shields, to Ft. Benning. Captain Shields is somewhat treacherous in setting up his own brother (over control of the family fortune) to either be captured or killed by the vicious Huron Indians, in league with the French. Set during the French and Indian War in the area of the Hudson River Valley, Hawkeye's Mohican friend Chingachgook is also on hand for Hawk's many adventures. As time progresses, so does the friendship between Elizabeth and Hawkeye.

Hawkeye teaches Elizabeth to shoot. Elizabeth teaches Hawkeye to read. Other adventures include determining what to do with a white baby when her parents and extended relatives are killed or uninterested. Another adventure has Hawkeye's father visiting, encounters with a fist-fighter, a deadly vision received by Chingachgook showing the death of Hawkeye, a smallpox plague, and how Hawkeye escapes a deadly trap from the Hurons while negotiating on behalf of a young widow.
