Synopsis

Indignation is a novel written by Philip Roth that tells the story of Marcus Messner, a young Jewish man from Newark, New Jersey, who enrolls at a conservative college in Ohio in the early 1950s.

As Marcus navigates the challenges of college life and clashes with the strict rules and regulations of the school, he finds himself at odds with the dean of students, who questions his beliefs and values.

Throughout the novel, Marcus grapples with questions of identity, morality, and the meaning of life, all while trying to find his place in a world that seems determined to crush his spirit.

Indignation is a powerful and thought-provoking exploration of the struggles of a young man coming of age in a society that demands conformity and obedience.
