Synopsis

Into the Wild is a non-fiction book written by Jon Krakauer, which tells the story of Christopher McCandless, a young man who decides to abandon his conventional life and embark on a journey into the Alaskan wilderness.

Christopher, who renames himself Alexander Supertramp, donates his savings to charity, burns his remaining cash, and sets out on a cross-country adventure, hitchhiking and living off the land.

Throughout his journey, Christopher encounters various people who leave a lasting impact on him, including a retired military man who becomes a father figure to him.

As Christopher makes his way to Alaska, he faces numerous challenges and tests his survival skills in the harsh wilderness. However, his lack of preparation and experience ultimately lead to his tragic demise.

Into the Wild explores themes of self-discovery, freedom, and the consequences of living off the grid. It raises questions about the nature of happiness and the pursuit of a meaningful life.
