Synopsis

"Ku'damm 59" is a German television series that follows the lives of three sisters in Berlin during the late 1950s. The sisters, Monika, Helga, and Eva, navigate the challenges of love, family, and societal expectations in a rapidly changing world.

As they come of age in the aftermath of World War II, each sister must confront their own desires and dreams, while also facing the constraints of their conservative mother and the expectations of society. Monika dreams of becoming a dancer, Helga struggles with her marriage, and Eva grapples with her sexuality.

Set against the backdrop of the vibrant music and fashion scene of the time, "Ku'damm 59" explores themes of gender roles, sexuality, and the pursuit of personal freedom. The series offers a glimpse into the lives of women in post-war Germany and the challenges they faced in a society still recovering from the trauma of war.
