On leave from his army assignment, Krishnakumar returns home to witness tyranny and corruption at the hands of corrupt police, and even more corrupt and oppressive politicians. He also finds out that his Education Minister father, Balaganghadharan, as well as two brother-in-laws are also part of this system, and he decides to speak out against them. As a result he alienates himself so much so that he is not permitted to attend his sister's marriage which has taken place against her will. His friendship with Sarika will turn to romance, and he will eventually decide if he wants a harmonious life with his family or enter his name in the elections against his very own father and his evil associates - who will go to any lengths to prevent him from winning.
