"L'italiana in Algeri" is an Italian opera by Gioachino Rossini. The story revolves around Isabella, an Italian woman who is shipwrecked in Algiers and taken captive by the Bey of Algiers. The Bey is tired of his current wife and decides he wants Isabella to be his new wife. Isabella, however, has other plans and sets out to outsmart the Bey and free herself and her fellow captives.
