Synopsis

Laura Lebrel (lebrel is Spanish for hound) is a very special detective, who has to juggle the demands of being a homemaker, the mother of young twin boys and a police inspector. As a detective she does not rely so much on science or psychology, but more importantly on intuition and instinct, as well as a dogged determination to dismantle the perfect alibi. Although she always gets her man or woman, it is never without more than a few bumps on the road. Indeed, if there were awards for simplicity and obliviousness, Laura would probably be the most decorated detective on the force.

The pieces that form the puzzles of the perfect crimes she helps solve each week are always much simpler than the parts that make up her personal life. Her relationship with fellow inspector Jacob, is somewhat complex, as he is also her ex and the father of her children; their two young boys would cause anyone to lose patience; Martin, her handsome and loyal colleague, does his detective work in between romancing various women, including suspects and witnesses; and then there is Laura's nosy mother, who always has advice about home, work and relationships.

In each episode, Laura has to figure out who the murderer is, as well as take the kids to school and make dinner, all while trying not to miss an episode of her favorite soap opera.

The series has echoes of Agatha Christie, Murder She Wrote, and Colombo (including an occasional frumpy raincoat as a tribute), mixing mystery with the everyday and personal misadventures of the protagonist, Inspector Lebrel.
