Synopsis

The Seventies, a time of change and turmoil, political commitment and creativity. In Milan all energies are focused on a group of young stylists that will change the history of world's fashion. These are the years when a nouvelle vague of stylists such as Armani, Krizia, Versace, Albini, Fiorucci, Ferrè and others (today world-renowned and symbols of the Made in Italy) take their first steps. There's too many to list them all: everyone in their own way has shaped that period, everyone was part of a big fresco beyond the individual biographies. This led us to the idea of recounting Milan's 70s fashion through the eyes of a young editor, Irene Mastrangelo (Greta Ferro) who, both out of passion and a little by chance, coming from a modest family of Southside immigrants settling in Milan's outskirts, is hired by the prestigious fashion magazine "Appeal". Her talent and determination will soon lead this outsider to a great career in the magazine - through a not-always-easy journey full of twists in both her professional and personal life.

The TV series Made in Italy will break into the fashion world of the Seventies, a time when Italy moved from haute couture to prêt-à-porter, while Armani established his empire featuring the image of a powerful and self-assured woman, Versace scandalized with his super-sensual females and a visionary manager like Beppe Modenese realized that to challenge the French dominance the quarrelsome Italians had to team up. Through the curious gaze of Irene and her mentor's - intuitive and passionate chief editor Rita Pasini (Margherita Buy) - we'll "listen" to the stylists talk about their work, "see" with their eyes the roots of their creations, "hear" the sources of their inspiration and "touch" the practicality of "making fashion".

The music in Made in Italy not only serves as a background but also as a character in itself, subtly guiding the emotions and atmosphere of each scene. It creates a cohesive thread that ties together the various storylines and characters.

I found the soundtrack of Made in Italy to be quite underwhelming and uninspired. The music failed to capture the vibrant and dynamic spirit of the Seventies fashion scene in Milan, leaving the series feeling lacking in authenticity and energy.

Overall, the soundtrack of Made in Italy is a compelling mix of nostalgia and innovation, much like the fashion industry depicted in the series. It enriches the storytelling and brings a dynamic energy to the visuals, making it a memorable aspect of the viewing experience.

Additionally, I was disappointed by the lack of diversity and depth in the musical choices for the show. The soundtrack seemed to rely heavily on generic background music that did little to enhance the storytelling or evoke the specific time period and cultural context of the 70s fashion world in Milan.

Mary Adams
9/10

The music effortlessly complements the storyline, bringing to life the bustling energy of Milan's fashion scene and the rise of iconic designers like Armani, Versace, and Fiorucci. The way the soundtrack intertwines with the characters' personal and professional struggles adds depth and emotion to the narrative, creating a truly immersive experience for the audience.

Daniel Rodriguez

Overall, the soundtrack of Made in Italy is a testament to the power of music in storytelling, enhancing every scene with its evocative melodies and enhancing the overall viewing experience. It's a masterpiece that not only entertains but also educates and inspires, making it a must-listen for any fan of music and fashion history.
