Synopsis

My Old Lady is a story about Mathias Gold (Kevin Kline), a penniless fifty-odd-year-old New Yorker, who arrives in Paris with hopes of selling his late father's mansion house in the Marais district.

However, Mathias soon discovers a shocking truth: his father had acquired the property as a life lease, a French custom he was unaware of. This means that he cannot sell the house as long as Mathilde Girard (Dame Maggie Smith) is alive, and he must also pay her a pension.

This revelation leaves Mathias in a difficult situation, as he is unable to turn the property into cash and must navigate the complexities of this unexpected arrangement.
