Synopsis

Off the Black is a story about an aging high school baseball umpire Ray Cook (Nick Nolte) who makes a controversial call during a game, causing his team to lose and miss out on the State Playoffs. In retaliation, a player named Dave Tibbel (Trevor Morgan) and two teammates vandalize Ray's house.

However, instead of seeking legal action, Ray decides to teach Dave a lesson in responsibility. Despite their initial conflict, a bond forms between the two as they both confront their personal demons and strive to fill the void of a father-son relationship in their lives.
