Synopsis

Paradise: Faith tells the story of a lonely wife who has become obsessed with Catholicism. We learn early on that she was originally married to a now-missing Muslim man. As her loneliness grows, so does her religious fervor.

During her vacation time, she walks through different and sometimes dangerous neighborhoods in Austria, aiming to re-convert the country to Catholicism. Carrying her statue of the Virgin Mary and repeating the rosary endlessly, she starts engaging in ritualistic physical punishment like self-flagellation, all in the name of her love for Jesus.

However, beneath her devout facade, there is a repressed sexuality and transference that drives her masochistic behavior. When her Islamic husband unexpectedly returns, her true "Christian" behavior is revealed.

Patricia Roberts
7/10

The combination of traditional Catholic hymns and atmospheric soundscapes creates a unique and immersive listening experience.

Jennifer Lopez
1/10

I found the use of religious chants and hymns in the soundtrack to be overbearing and intrusive, overshadowing the subtlety of the narrative and character development. Instead of enhancing the atmosphere of the film, the music often felt forced and disconnected from the on-screen actions, leading to a jarring viewing experience.

Jennifer Davis
5/10

I appreciated how the soundtrack mirrored the protagonist's journey, starting off with solemn and reverent tones before gradually escalating into dissonant and discordant melodies as her inner conflict intensified.

Nancy Roberts

The use of traditional hymns and chants in the soundtrack added an eerie and unsettling quality to the film, enhancing the sense of unease throughout.

Richard Young

The soundtrack effectively conveys the protagonist's inner conflict between her religious beliefs and her repressed desires.

Melissa Campbell
7/10

The soundtrack's use of repetitive motifs and melodies mirrors the protagonist's ritualistic practices, adding layers of meaning to the narrative.

Michael Williams
8/10

The use of religious motifs in the music enhances the atmosphere of devotion and obsession portrayed in the film.

Matthew Gonzalez
8/10

The music mirrors the character's emotional journey, from devotion to disillusionment, with great sensitivity and depth.
