Saraband tells the story of Marianne and Johan, who reunite after thirty years without contact.
Marianne suddenly feels a need to see her ex-husband again and decides to visit Johan at his old summer house in Dalarna.
One beautiful autumn day, she wakes Johan with a light kiss beside his reclining chair.
Also staying on the property are Johan's son Henrik and Henrik's daughter Karin.
Henrik is protective of Karin and sees her future as staked out with cello lessons.
Relations between father and son are strained, as they both mourn the loss of Anna, Henrik's wife.
Marianne soon realizes that things are not as they should be and gets drawn into a complicated power struggle.
