Pilar Beltrán is a forty-something teacher who lives in Madrid (Spain's capital) with her authoritarian mother Mercedes and her twenty-something free-spirit daughter, Elvira. After the suicide of a student of her own class, Pilar moves Oviedo (Principality of Asturias' capital, north to Spain), after to accept an offer in the Santullano High School. Meanwhile Elvira tries to find her place in the world as top model, Pilar meets Jandro, Santullano's principal, a man who tries to balance his chaotic life between his part-time relationship with Ana, one of the teachers, with his work leading the high school. At the same time that the Santullano's students face serious and several problems of their coming-of-age (parents' divorce, first love, homosexuality, drugs or racism), Pilar's life turns more complicated: Elvira starts a relationship with a man older than her and demands know who is her father meanwhile Lucía, José Ramón's wife (Pilar's best friends) struggle with a cancer, and Pilar meets Alfonso, an elegant and well-mannered mature book-shopper, starting a relationship with him. According the school year ends, lives of all them will change forever, and nothing will return to be the same.
