Synopsis

Short Time is a 1990 American action-comedy film directed by Gregg Champion. The film stars Dabney Coleman as Burt Simpson, a police officer who discovers he only has a short time left to live due to a misdiagnosis. Determined to provide for his family after his death, Burt sets out to get himself killed in the line of duty so that his family can collect his life insurance policy.

As Burt goes to extreme lengths to put himself in dangerous situations, he finds himself in increasingly absurd and hilarious scenarios. Along the way, he teams up with his partner Ernie (played by Matt Frewer) and a nurse named Jo (played by Teri Garr) who becomes romantically involved with Burt.
