Sparkler is a story about Melba (Park Overall) who lives in a trailer park in Victorville, California and is facing a streak of bad luck. Her husband Flint (Don Harvey) leaves her for another woman, prompting her mother Sherri (Grace Zabriskie) to connect her with a phone psychic. The psychic tells Melba to watch for three kings who will change her life.
One night at a bar, Melba meets Trent (Jamie Kennedy), Brad (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and Joel (Steven Petrarca), who are heading to Las Vegas in hopes of winning enough money to pay their back rent. They nickname Melba "Sparkler" and she believes they are the three kings mentioned by the psychic, so she decides to join them on their journey.
Meanwhile, Flint discovers that Melba has won a million-dollar sweepstakes, but she must claim the prize in person within 72 hours or lose it. Melba ends up at a Vegas strip club called the Crack, where she reunites with her old friend Dottie Delgato (Veronica Cartwright) who lives with the club's owner, Ed (Sandy Martin).
As Melba navigates her new surroundings in Vegas, Flint is on a mission to find her and keep the sweepstakes money for himself. The story unfolds with twists and turns as Melba's fate hangs in the balance.
