The artist needs a model to paint the Virgin Mary, and the pastor recommends him 18-year-old Vita. The more Vita meets the fiendish-looking artist, the more she seems to be entangled in mysterious networks and haunted by a spider, appearing both in her dreams and even in the bedroom on the wall. The doctor advises Vita's mother to send the girl to the countryside to calm her nerves, but the spider persecutes Vita there too and the horrendous visions continue.
