Spotlight is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Tom McCarthy. The film follows The Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team, a group of investigative journalists who uncover the widespread child sex abuse scandal within the Catholic Church in Boston.
The film stars Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, and Stanley Tucci, among others. Spotlight received critical acclaim for its performances, direction, and handling of such a sensitive subject matter.
The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay at the 88th Academy Awards. It also won the BAFTA Award for Best Film and the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Picture.
