Synopsis

Surrogate tells the story of Eli, a 32 year old man who struggles with relationships with women. Hagar is introduced as a surrogate, serving as an alternative partner for practical and sexual therapy. They meet once a week to practice a relationship and intimacy in laboratory conditions.

The fictitious relationship between Eli and Hagar exposes them both physically and emotionally, bringing to surface repressed fears from the real world. As the therapy progresses, Eli undergoes significant changes and secrets are revealed that not only shake his own life, but also impact his family.

Within the clinic walls, through this "artificial" process, Eli learns how to love for the first time. The journey of self-discovery and emotional growth that Eli experiences during the therapy is at the core of Surrogate.
