Synopsis

Tears of the Sun is a story about Navy SEAL Lieutenant A.K. Waters and his elite squadron of tactical specialists who are faced with a difficult decision. They must choose between their duty and their humanity, between following orders and protecting innocent refugees.

When the democratic government of Nigeria collapses and the country is taken over by a ruthless military dictator, Waters is sent on a mission to retrieve a Doctors Without Borders physician, Dr. Lena Kendricks, who is caring for victims of the civil war at a Catholic mission in a remote village.

Dr. Kendricks refuses to leave unless Waters promises to help deliver the villagers to political asylum at the nearby border, as they would be at the mercy of the rebel army if left behind. Despite strict orders to remain disengaged from the conflict, Waters and his men witness the brutality of the rebels and decide to escort the villagers on a dangerous journey through the jungle.

As they evade the pursuing rebels, Waters and his team discover that among the refugees is the sole survivor of the country's previous ruling family, whom the rebels are determined to eliminate. They must now weigh the life of one man against their own and the refugees they are protecting.

On the other hand, some may find the soundtrack of Tears of the Sun to be somewhat generic and predictable in its use of orchestral arrangements. While the music serves its purpose in setting the tone for the film, it lacks a distinctiveness that could make it truly memorable. The soundtrack may not stand out as much on its own, blending into the background rather than leaving a lasting impression on the listener.
