Tender Mercies is a 1983 American drama film directed by Bruce Beresford. The film tells the story of Mac Sledge, a washed-up country singer who finds redemption and a second chance at life when he meets a young widow and her son.
After hitting rock bottom, Mac decides to turn his life around and starts working at the widow's small Texas motel. As he forms a bond with the widow and her son, Mac begins to find peace and purpose in his life once again.
