Synopsis

The Chosen is a coming-of-age story about two teenage boys from different religious backgrounds who form an unlikely friendship. Set in Brooklyn during the 1940s, the boys, Reuven Malter and Danny Saunders, meet on a baseball field and quickly bond over their shared love for the sport.

However, their friendship is tested when they realize the deep divide between their respective communities. Reuven is a Modern Orthodox Jew, while Danny is the son of a Hasidic rabbi. Despite their differences, the boys learn to respect and understand each other's beliefs, leading to a deeper connection.

As they navigate the challenges of adolescence and the complexities of their faiths, Reuven and Danny must confront their own prejudices and preconceptions. Through their friendship, they discover the power of empathy, forgiveness, and acceptance.

The Chosen is a poignant exploration of friendship, faith, and identity, and a reminder that despite our differences, we are all connected by our shared humanity.
