Synopsis

The Comet is a science fiction short story written by W.E.B. Du Bois. The story is set in the early 20th century and follows the experiences of Jim Davis, a black man living in the United States. One night, a comet appears in the sky, causing panic and fear among the people. As the comet gets closer, Jim Davis reflects on his life and the injustices he has faced as a black man in a racist society.

The Comet explores themes of race, identity, and the fragility of human existence. It challenges the reader to consider the impact of societal norms and prejudices on individuals and communities. The story ends with a twist that forces Jim Davis to confront his own biases and preconceptions.
