"The Day After I'm Gone" is a story about Yoram, a vet at a safari park in Tel Aviv. As a single father, his job involves taking care of wildcats, performing operations on sick animals, and ensuring the safety of visitors encountering rhinos. However, Yoram's relationship with his teenage daughter, Roni, is strained as she feels trapped in their dark apartment.
One night, paramedics arrive at their door after Roni's attempted suicide, revealing the depth of her struggles. To find a way forward, father and daughter embark on a journey back to their family, facing the ghosts of their past and the wounds of their country. Director Nimrod Eldar's debut film captures the quiet turmoil beneath the surface through poignant imagery, gradually unveiling the complexities of their relationships and the challenges they must overcome.
