Synopsis

The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain

In a small Welsh village, the residents are excited to hear that two English cartographers are coming to measure their local "mountain".

When the cartographers arrive, they inform the villagers that their beloved "mountain" is actually a hill because it is just shy of the required 1000 feet in height.

The villagers are determined to make their hill a mountain, so they come up with a plan to add soil to the top of the hill to increase its height.

As the villagers work together to achieve their goal, the English cartographers are charmed by their determination and sense of community.

By the end of the story, the hill has been successfully transformed into a mountain, and the Englishman who initially came to measure it leaves with a newfound respect for the villagers and their mountain.
