Synopsis

The Girl by the Lake

A police procedural against the backdrop of the investigator's family problems. A young woman is found dead by an Alpine lake near Udine. Commissario Sanzio investigates, finding plenty of suspects in the victim's small town: her father and sister, her boyfriend, a blood-simple neighbor and his domineering father, her former employer, and his ex-wife.

Sanzio focuses more on understanding the emotional world of the victim and those she knew as on other evidence. As he looks for the truth about the murder, we also meet his wife, who's in an institution with memory loss, perhaps Alzheimer's Disease, and his teenaged daughter, who wants the truth about her mother.
