The Last Summer is a coming-of-age film that follows a group of high school friends as they navigate their final summer together before heading off to college. The story centers around four main characters: Alec, a shy and introspective artist; Chloe, a free-spirited musician; Riley, a popular jock; and Mia, a bookish and ambitious student.
As the summer progresses, Alec and Chloe begin to develop romantic feelings for each other, but struggle to communicate their emotions. Meanwhile, Riley finds himself torn between his loyalty to his friends and his desire to break free from the expectations placed on him by his family and peers. Mia grapples with the pressure to succeed academically while also trying to figure out who she wants to be outside of her studies.
Throughout the film, the group of friends confronts the challenges of growing up, including love, friendship, and the uncertainty of the future. The Last Summer explores themes of self-discovery, independence, and the bittersweet nature of saying goodbye to the people and places that have shaped us.
