The Ringer is a comedy film about a man named Steve Barker who is down on his luck and in desperate need of money. He comes up with a plan to fake his own death and collect the insurance money, but things take a hilarious turn when he realizes that he has a long-lost twin brother named Doug. Steve convinces Doug to take his place and fake his own death, but things get even more complicated when Doug starts to enjoy his new life as Steve. As the brothers try to keep up the charade, they must navigate through a series of comical mishaps and misunderstandings. Will they be able to pull off the ultimate con, or will their plan unravel before they can cash in on the insurance money?
