The second couple, Mohsen and Zunaira, are intellectuals who are also struggling to cope with the harsh realities of life under the Taliban. Mohsen is a former professor who has lost his job and his sense of purpose, while Zunaira is a talented artist who is forced to wear a burqa in public.

As their lives intersect, the four characters are forced to confront their own moral dilemmas and make difficult choices that will ultimately determine their fates.
