Synopsis

Thursday's Child

17-year-old Sam Alden is a high-school star baseball player who seems to have it all. When his family notices that he is often bothered with coughing fits, his worried parents decide to take him to the hospital, where they are shocked to find out that he has a life-threatening heart disease. Sam has trouble dealing with his illness, but he pretends to still be a joyful teenager to not worry his parents more than they are already. But his health is deteriorating, and it comes to him needing a heart transplant if he wants to survive. This is the beginning of a long journey, which is mentally and physically exhausting as Sam undergoes countless tests and operations, and the search for a donor seems endless. Even before the final operation, Sam is forced to deal with several setbacks in his life.

Amanda Gonzalez
4/10

The soundtrack of Thursday's Child failed to capture the emotional depth and intensity of Sam's journey battling a life-threatening heart disease. The music felt generic and uninspired, lacking the ability to evoke empathy or connect with the audience on a deeper level.

Furthermore, the repetitive use of cliché melodies and predictable chord progressions in the soundtrack of Thursday's Child made it feel like a background noise rather than a powerful storytelling element. The music did not enhance the scenes or contribute to the emotional impact of the narrative, leaving a sense of missed opportunity in conveying the gravity of Sam's struggles and triumphs.

The soundtrack of Thursday's Child effectively captures the emotional rollercoaster that Sam Alden goes through in his battle with a life-threatening heart disease. The music perfectly conveys the feelings of hope, fear, and resilience that Sam experiences, making the audience empathize with his struggles on a deeper level. The choice of instruments and melodies adds a layer of poignancy to the story, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

While the soundtrack of Thursday's Child succeeds in setting the mood for the film, some pieces feel slightly repetitive and predictable. There are moments where the music becomes overly sentimental, bordering on cliché, which can detract from the authenticity of Sam's journey. A more diverse range of musical styles and tones could have added depth to the storytelling and made the soundtrack more memorable.
