Living in New York City, country music superstar Heath Sawyer has to be in the recording studio in five days, the day after Christmas, to record a Christmas song he has not yet written, his writing slump ever since his military veteran father passed away last year.
Cara Hill is in New York to secure funding for her family's well known business, Stone Bridge Preserves, from their regular financier, who will only provide such if they mechanize, meaning the layoff of much of their workforce.
With Heath convinced to go home for Christmas, the first time home since his father's passing, Heath and Cara are on the same scheduled New York to Tulsa flight. But with a snowstorm passing through the American Midwest, their flight is canceled jeopardizing them getting home for Christmas.
With Cara having no idea who he is in not being a follower of country music, the two end up forming a bond as they try to make their way home together for Christmas. What happens between them is affected by the stalls in their professional lives, Cara's eventual realization of who he is, and their ability to make it home in time for Christmas.
