Synopsis

Veronika Decides to Die is a novel by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. The story follows Veronika, a young woman who appears to have everything she could want in life - beauty, a good job, and a loving family. However, she feels trapped in a monotonous routine and decides to end her life by taking an overdose of sleeping pills.

However, Veronika survives the suicide attempt and wakes up in a mental institution. She is told that the overdose has damaged her heart and she only has a few days to live.
