Wander Darkly is a story about a couple, Matteo and Adrienne, who despite going through milestone events like buying a house and having their first child, cannot admit to themselves or each other that they are truly happy. The problems that emerge only highlight existing issues, such as the intense dislike between Adrienne's mother Patty and Matteo.
A traumatic incident leads them on a metaphysical journey of their lives together, exploring their past and future based on their current state. Each approaches the journey with different mindsets, questioning if they will emerge from it at all and if it will lead them to true happiness as a couple and family.
