Synopsis

When Saturday Comes tells the story of Jimmy Muir, a hard-drinking brewery worker in Sheffield who has a lack of respect for authority.

His life revolves around football, but he has never had the courage or discipline to make anything of his potential.

Jimmy is discovered by Ken Jackson, the manager of Hallam football club, while playing for his pub team.

After impressing at Hallam, Jimmy is offered a trial at Sheffield United.

However, the night before the trial, Jimmy gets drunk and wakes up feeling rough, leading to a disappointing performance.

Now, Jimmy must reflect on his future and decide if he has the self-discipline to succeed.
