Synopsis

Yeast is a short film that follows the story of a young woman named Sarah who is struggling with her mental health. She finds solace in baking bread, a hobby that helps her cope with her anxiety and depression.

As Sarah's mental state deteriorates, she becomes obsessed with perfecting her bread recipe, believing that if she can bake the perfect loaf, she will be able to overcome her inner demons.

However, as Sarah's obsession grows, she begins to neglect her relationships and her own well-being. It is only when she reaches a breaking point that she realizes that true healing comes from within, not from external achievements.

Yeast is a poignant exploration of mental health, self-care, and the importance of seeking help when needed. It serves as a reminder that true healing requires more than just a perfect recipe.

The music in Yeast often felt disconnected from the emotional intensity of the scenes. I felt that there were missed opportunities to enhance the storytelling through more dynamic and impactful sound design. The soundtrack failed to evoke a strong emotional response from me as a viewer, which made it difficult to fully engage with Sarah's struggles.
