Sinopsis
Biopic de Howard Hughes, multimillonario, que comienza con sus primeros años en la industria cinematográfica como propietario de R.K.O. Pictures, pero se centra principalmente en su papel en el diseño y promoción de nuevas aeronaves.
Hughes era un aventurero que gastó varias fortunas en diseñar aeronaves experimentales y eventualmente fundó TWA como rival de las aerolíneas Pan Am, propiedad de su gran rival Juan Trippe.
Cuando el político de Trippe, el Senador Ralph Owen Brewster, acusa a Hughes de ser un aprovechador de guerra, es Hughes quien toma la delantera.
Hughes también tuvo muchas mujeres en su vida, incluyendo una larga relación con Katharine Hepburn.
Sin embargo, desde temprana edad, Hughes también sufría de germofobia y tenía graves episodios de enfermedad mental.
