Sinopsis

Esta película teatral basada en la serie de televisión (que también se basaba en una popular línea de juguetes de robots multiformes) no tuvo mucho éxito en la taquilla. La película tiene lugar en 2005, veinte años después de la serie de televisión, y narra los esfuerzos de los heroicos Autobots para defender su planeta natal Cybertron de los malvados Decepticons.

Ambas facciones están llenas de ira, y ese odio los ha cegado ante una horrible amenaza que se acerca. Esa horrible amenaza es el colosal planeta conocido como Unicron, que está listo para consumir todo lo que se interponga en su camino.

Lo único que puede detener a Unicron es la Matriz de Liderazgo Autobot, que está en posesión de los Autobots y que los Decepticons, por orden de Unicron, planean arrebatarles.
