Synopsis

Impatient de commencer à zéro, le jeune docteur Louis Creed et sa famille - sa femme, Rachel, leur fille Ellie et leur bambin de deux ans, Gage - déménagent dans leur nouvelle maison dans la petite ville rurale de Ludlow, Maine, alarmant près d'une route très fréquentée.

Cependant, après la mort accidentelle du chat bien-aimé de Rachel dans un terrible accident, Louis, désespéré, suivra à contrecœur les conseils de son voisin amical pour l'enterrer dans un ancien cimetière Micmac : un lieu de sépulture mystique doté de prétendus pouvoirs de réanimation.

Maintenant, malgré les résultats terribles et les avertissements insistants d'un récemment décédé, frappé par la tragédie, Louis n'a d'autre choix que de retourner au cimetière indien, espérant que, cette fois, les choses seront différentes.

Néanmoins, les morts peuvent-ils vraiment revenir de la tombe ?
