Eleusis, Athens, Greece. Set against the backdrop of the peaceful seaside hostel Persephone, various elements of western and Japanese culture become inextricably intertwined with aspects of ancient Greek tragedy, Kabuki theatre, and even Haiku poetry.
As the sudden arrival of a mysterious stranger disrupts the delicate balance between humans and their natural surroundings--blurring the line between the present and the past, the modern and the ancient--a group of female Japanese holidaymakers unwittingly becomes part of the undying, shocking Greek myth of the Abduction of Persephone by Hades.
Little by little, a contemporary version of the ancient tale unfolds as the female chorus transcends loss and death, searching for love and a new purpose in life.
