Dopo che suo padre viene rovesciato come Re Cristiano di Scandia, suo figlio Principe Valiant viaggia alla corte del Re Artù a Camelot nella speranza di essere nominato cavaliere della Tavola Rotonda.
Prima di poter diventare un cavaliere, deve prima servire come scudiero, e Sir Gawain si assume la responsabilità di addestrarlo nelle abilità del combattimento cavalleresco.
Valiant alla fine incontra la bellissima Aleta, figlia del Re di Ord; presentando Gawain alla sua nuova amata, Valiant dà a Gawain l'impressione sbagliata che Aleta sia innamorata di lui, e poi fa la cosa onorevole rifiutandosi di dissipare i pensieri romantici dell'anziano cavaliere su di lei.
Valiant e Aleta vengono fatti prigionieri dai Vichinghi ma riescono a fuggire e ad aiutare a sventare un complotto del Cavaliere Nero per rovesciare Re Artù.
