Sinossi
A metà degli anni '80, tre donne (ognuna con un avvocato) arrivano nell'ufficio del direttore dell'intrattenimento di New York Morris Levy. Uno è un cantante di Los Angeles, ex dei Platters; uno è un ladruncolo di Filadelfia; uno insegna al liceo in una piccola città della Georgia. Ognuno afferma di essere la vedova del cantautore Frankie Lyman, morto da tempo, e ognuno vuole anni di diritti d'autore a causa della sua proprietà, denaro che Levy non ha mai condiviso. Durante un processo civile che ne è seguito, i flashback raccontano la storia della vita di ciascuno con Lyman, un attore fanciullesco, acuto e dinamico, perso a causa dell'eroina. Lentamente, le tre vedove si uniscono e stabiliscono il loro legame.
