Özet
2 Nisan 2008'de Jon, en iyi arkadaşı David'in Madrid dışındaki bir benzin istasyonunda vurulmasına tanık olan 32 yaşında bir matematikçidir. 2 Nisan 2018'de Nico, yetişkinler için bir dergi satın almak için aynı benzin istasyonuna girmeye zorlayan bir okul ortaklarının zorbalığına maruz kalan 10 yaşında bir çocuktur. Oğlunu aramaya geldikten sonra annesi Lucia tarafından zorbalardan son dakikada kurtarılan Nico, bir video oyunu dergisi satın alır ve içinde 12 Nisan'da benzin istasyonuna giderse öleceğine dair bir not bulur. Bu arada Nico'ya korku ve paranoya hakim olmaya başlar. Jon, 1976'da bir generalin şoförünün de aynı benzin istasyonunda vurularak öldürüldüğü bir önceki kurşunun gerçekleştiğini fark eder. Yerin geçmişinde derinlere inen Jon, 1955 ve 1913'te benzer trajediler bulur ve olaylarda bir kalıp bulmak için matematik yeteneğini kullanmaya çalışır ve David'in kız arkadaşı ve Jon'un eski kız arkadaşı Andrea'nın reddedilmesine neden olur. 12 Nisan kapanışına göre, Lucia, Nico'nun giderek artan öldürülme korkusunu silmek için mücadele ediyor ve Jon, acı çektiği şizofreni tedavisini bıraktıktan sonra dengesiz zihinleriyle mücadele ediyor.
