A young man who looks to alcoholism as a device to provide him courage to talk to a girl expresses, only in action and events, in one day, what his current life amounts to in society. The only ambition made aware is that of an obsessive attraction. He finds that even this aspect of supposed human life is a futile struggle. Out of desperation and a lacking of self-respect he takes the girl's phone number down from a board at work. This act causes him shame when finding that he wakes her up on a call of short notice, while at a laundromat. Later that night his subconscious masochism persuades him to call her a second time, while conciously believing he will get her answering machine. The constant throbbing of the picture suddenly becomes in sync with a loud industrial cry found in the machinery on the young man's drunken morning walk.
