Sparkling Cyanide is a story about a socialite who dies during a dinner with several people, including her husband, sister, aunt, and friends. It is later revealed that she died from ingesting cyanide.
Initially, it is believed that she may have taken the cyanide herself due to emotional problems. However, her husband receives a note claiming she was murdered, prompting him to investigate further.
As part of his plan to uncover the truth, her husband arranges a gathering with the same people present when his wife died. During a toast, he suddenly drops dead after taking a drink of champagne, raising suspicions about how the cyanide got into his glass.
Meanwhile, the socialite's sister, who has developed feelings for an English reporter present at the dinner, discovers that he is actually an investigator. Together with the police, they work to uncover the killer's identity.
