Another Period is a show that follows the Bellacourts, a nouveau riche family from Newport, Rhode Island in the early twentieth century. They lack the breeding of old money, but they love their wealth and the privileges that come with it.
All six adult members of the family, along with their hangers-on, are vastly different from each other. However, they share a common trait: they enjoy their money and treat poor people, especially their servants, poorly.
The four offspring of the family, including daughters Lillian and Beatrice, have never experienced poverty or the need to work for a living. They are both vacuous, vain, and aspire to become famous without putting in any effort to achieve that fame.
