Synopsis

Four-time Emmy Award-winner John Larroquette (NBC's "Night Court") stars in the NBC World Premiere Movie "One Special Victory," about a real estate salesman who is sentenced to 50 hours of community service coaching a basketball team of developmentally disabled adults. The movie will be telecast Sunday, December 8, 1991 (9-11 p.m. NYT).

THE PLOT: Bo Arner (Larroquette), super-slick real estate salesman and man-about-town, loses his job, his apartment and finally his "cool" one night when he tries to destroy property he lost to his ex-wife in their divorce settlement. The judge sentences him to 50 hours of community service coaching basketball. One thing Bo knows is basketball, but he quits when he realizes the team consists of developmentally disabled adults. Bo appeals to the judge, but when faced with the alternative of jail, he eases back to the gym and shakily accepts the challenge of preparing them for the Christmas Sectionals of the Special Olympics. Exercising with the team daily, Bo sees an improvement - in them and in himself. But when Bo has a date, he reverts back to selfish, irresponsible behavior, and endangers the welfare of the team. Realizing how much the team means to him, Bo reassesses his values.
