Synopsis

Chicago is a musical set in the roaring twenties, focusing on the stories of two murderesses, Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, who are both on death row in Cook County Jail. The show explores themes of fame, corruption, and the criminal justice system.

Velma Kelly is a vaudevillian who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together. She is a seasoned performer who is used to the spotlight and is determined to stay on top, even in jail.

Roxie Hart is a young and naive aspiring performer who killed her lover after he tried to leave her. She craves fame and attention, and sees her murder trial as an opportunity to become a celebrity.

The two women compete for the attention of their slick lawyer, Billy Flynn, who uses their cases to manipulate the media and public opinion. As their trials progress, Velma and Roxie form an unlikely bond and learn to navigate the corrupt world they live in.

Chicago is a darkly comedic and satirical look at the American justice system and the lengths people will go to in order to achieve fame and fortune.
